Una porta girevole modificata composta da tre elementi principali: un innovativo perno centrale che può sostituire quello di ogni porta nuova o già installata, un sistema meccanico/elettrico che cattura l’energia cinetica del movimento rotatorio innescato dall’uomo e la trasforma in energia elettrica, un dispositivo che visualizza la quantità di energia generata. Raccoglie l’energia meccanica prodotta dall’uomo e la ridistribuisce all’interno dell’edificio sotto forma di energia elettrica, riducendo la quantità di energia prelevata dalla rete e introducendo una fonte di energia rinnovabile nel sistema. Comunica direttamente il contributo apportato da ogni singola persona all’interno di questo ciclo e crea un’interazione tra gli individui, la tecnologia e l’architettura. Il sistema può essere applicato a ogni contesto in cui è inserita una porta girevole, tipicamente nei grandi edifici commerciali o istituzionali.

A modified revolving door comprised of three parts - a redesigned central core replacing that of any existing or new revolving door, a mechanical/electrical system that harnesses human energy and redistributes electricity to an output, and an output device that maps the harnessed energy.
This door uses human energy for redistribution into the building system, reducing a buildings’ net energy draw from the grid, and introducing a renewable energy source into the system.
The Revolution Door will directly communicate a single person's contribution to an energy cycle possible through the metabolic relationship between people, technology, and architecture. It can be used in any application where a standard revolving door is used, typically large institutional/cultural buildings in an urban environment. The Revolution Door can be considered as the urban equivalent of a wind turbine.
